My yoga journey began in 2004 when I was immersed in a high-stress corporate career in Public Relations. I found yoga to be exactly what I needed to clear my mind, connect back to my breath and regain some sanity after a long and stressful day at the office. Yoga had an immediate and powerful effect and only weeks after starting to practice I felt that my body and brain had changed forever. It was such a profound difference, that I began to dedicate my life outside of work to the study and practice of yoga. After receiving my 200-hour teacher training in 2008 at Yoga Tree in San Francisco, I began teaching Vinyasa Flow and Yoga for Athletes classes, but still continued to march forward in my PR career. Then, in 2017, after becoming pregnant with my first child I made the decision to dedicate my life to yoga and leave PR behind. It was the ultimate release as PR was no longer serving my needs. I am currently becoming a certified IAYT Yoga Therapist and 500-hour E-RYT at Loyola Marymount University, along with recently becoming a certified prenatal yoga teacher.
My teaching style blends movement with breath awareness to create classes that are dynamic, fun and therapeutic. My hope is that my students will leave class feeling empowered and like better humans than when they arrived. I take my yoga seriously but try not to take myself too seriously (everything is a practice!). I love to laugh, move my body and have fun. In addition to teaching group classes and prenatal/postpartum, Melody does one-on-one Yoga Therapy sessions with a focus on women’s wellness, back health, and pelvic floor balance & vitality.
